Lucy’s Story

Lucy* is a 15-year-old rescued after she was abused by her step father. The matter is in court and she has testified against the perpetrator. When Lucy came to the Safe House, she was extremely shy and would cry even at the thought of saying her name to other girls. She also had a hard time expressing herself and would just cry. This was her calling for help and a therapist was able to get through the emotions and help her cope with what she experienced.

A few months into her stay at the Safe House, she also lost her biological father whom she was very close to. This added to her emotional turmoil but she has come to terms with it and is progressing well. She is now a form 2 student and has shown progress throughout the school terms.
